Have an idea?

– The “Lightbulb” moment

The “Lightbulb” Moment

Have you ever been sitting in your room and suddenly found yourself in a trance of sorts, envisioning your future success and lavish lifestyle? Have you ever had a “random” idea that you were convinced was the “one” and after presenting it to your friends decided to scrap it? You go through life as a young dreamer, waiting for whats commonly called a “lightbulb” moment to occur, and change your life forever. The rare anomaly. The spark of genius. The life changer. This “moment” has been dubbed numerous names and the thought of it has occupied the minds of millions throughout generations. What you don’t know however, is that this moment is not as rare as it seems.

Every time you find yourself in one of the instances previously depicted, you are experiencing mini “light bulb moments”. That spark of genius that you thought was reserved for the likes of Albert Einstein, Stephan Hawking, and co. exists on a weekly, even daily basis in the mind of a dreamer. If everyone knew this, the impact on our societies level of innovation would be invaluable. You see, ideas that morph the world, make billionaires, and even change your life rarely, if ever come in a solitary train of thought. In reality, these “mini” light bulb moments I spoke about are added up, filtered, altered, and if the individual is persistent in their efforts, will eventually surmount into one game changing idea.

THIS IS A MINI LIGHTBULB MOMENT

Envision it this way. That Thursday night as you sat in your bed and conjured sleep-deprived solutions to your financial situation, relationship trouble, career path, and any other ailment you possessed at the time, you came up with a solution. This solution came after what felt like ions of overthinking and mentally rummaging through ideas. You repeat it and extrapolate it in your head before writing it in your notes, planning to show your friends the next day. Morning comes, and you eagerly approach your mates proclaiming that you have found the solution to your problem, and enthusiastically spill your findings. A moment of silence, and the look on your friends face is not one which you predicted, on the contrary, the look is filled with judgement and “benevolent” critique. Lacking confidence at the time, you second guess yourself and push the idea to the back of your head.

Now, this idea that you pushed to the back of your head stays there, until it can be applied at a later time during another one of these thinking sessions. The next time you come up with a “solution” within the same realm, a part of that past idea will subconsciously influence your proceeding one. THIS IS HOW THE PROCESS PERPETUATES ITSELF…. however it will only work if you are effortfully working towards your goal.

The Law Of Attraction

I will go further into this wonderful principle of life in a later series of posts, however I must touch upon the subject in relation to the previously discussed matter. If you notice, the mega-rich and ultra successful individuals that exist around us sometimes surpass the laymen in terms of business prowess and motivation to an extent that is seemingly insurmountable. You begin to wonder… “what separates these people from the rest of us to the extent that they are so much richer, more powerful, and seemingly in control than the average hardworking man?” Aside from the existence of corruption and the trust fund baby, the KEY separating factor is their self efficacy, better known as belief in ones self. This belief lies so deep and is so powerful that it can drive a man dealt with life’s worst cards to create something NOBODY could have ever imagined.

Envisioning yourself where you want to be in 5-10-20 years from now is not an action comparable to idealistic fantasy, it is a pivotal part of priming your mind to endure the sacrifice and hardship that are entailed with pursuing your life’s greatest ambitions. This imagery, coupled with the scientific principle of “auto-suggestion” are the framework of an ultra successful individual. Auto Suggestion is a psychological principle most simply described as a form of “self hypnosis” in which you consistently and firmly declare to yourself the goals that you want to achieve, and how you are going to achieve them. This is the principle that evokes waking up at 6:00am, staring yourself in the mirror, and telling yourself that you are going to get that 6-figure job you applied for. I am going to buy that Ferrari I dreamt of as a young child. These affirmations serve as the building blocks that lead to your cognitive effort to find viable solutions to achieve your goals, which lead to mini lightbulb moments, that ultimately guide you to the ultimate solution, or LIGHT BULB moment that you have placed on a pedestal. If you want something, stop thinking, start doing, and take into account the practices of the most successful individuals on the planet.

  • Believe in yourself
  • Set clear goals
  • Do not lose your ideas despite bad reception
  • Practice Auto-Suggestion
  • Release your inner genius

Till Next Time

If you are like me, then you know that success does not only exist in the form of money, but in the form of accomplishing something you pursued effortfully and made sacrifices to achieve. This can be virtually anything the mind can conjure, and each individual has his own idea of success. The only thing we all have in common, is that we want to find a way to get there. The controversial and prolific Immortal Technique once said “Hell is the failure of your life’s greatest ambitions”. Till next time my friends.
